the shortbread is from this issue Canadian living.  it is a recipe for kid so it is extremely simple and definitely fool-proof.
1/2 cup of unsalted butter
1/4 cup of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of vanilla

3/4 cup of all purpose flour

1/4 cup of corn starch
mix with creaming mehotd and bake in 300F oven for 30 mins.  turned out quite nice, but i probably should not put in hershey hugs because it look a bit burnt
